About the role

A Lead Machine Learning Scientist at Monzo is a technical Individual Contributor (IC) leadership position. You will work with billions of rows of data on a modern cloud native platform to automatically detect suspicious user behaviours while minimising impact to genuine customers.

What you’ll be working on

• Working with stakeholders to identify and scope impactful opportunities to tackle Financial Crime and Fraud with Machine Learning
• Leading the design and development of advanced real time Machine Learning models (neural network, graph-based, sequence-based architectures)
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring within the Machine Learning discipline
• Working closely with MLOps to improve tools for rapid model iteration

You should apply if

• You have a multiple year track record of excellence leading the development and deployment of advanced Machine Learning models
• You have experience developing and shipping deep learning, graph-based, and/or sequence-based ML architectures to production
• You have extensive experience writing production Python code and a strong command of SQL
• You are impact driven and have a self-starter mindset

Nice to haves

• Experience working with financial crime and in regulated institutions
• Commercial experience writing critical production code and working with microservices

Location and benefits

The role can be based in London or Cardiff, or distributed within the UK with ad hoc meetings in London. We can sponsor visas and help with relocation. We offer flexible working hours, a £1,000 annual learning budget and the option to work part-time.
